About ChemResults

ChemResults helps students preparing for the Cambridge International AS & A Level Chemistry (9701) exam practise exam-style multiple-choice questions, and learn from every answer they give.

Find questions on any topic

Every question is mapped to the syllabus. Use Search to find questions by unit, section or topic, or by keyword. Each question shows the syllabus learning outcomes it tests.

Learn from every answer

When you choose an answer, you see feedback straight away.

  • If your answer is correct, the feedback explains why it is right, so the chemistry sticks.
  • If your answer is wrong, the feedback explains the misconception, misunderstanding or miscalculation that usually leads to that answer, and guides you back to the method, without simply giving you the correct answer.

Each wrong option in a multiple-choice question is there for a reason: it is the answer a student who made a particular mistake would choose. Finding out which mistake leads to which answer is where much of the learning happens.

Teacher-in-the-loop AI

Many AI tools write every explanation on the spot. ChemResults works differently. It takes a "human-in-the-loop" approach to AI, which we call teacher-in-the-loop.

  1. Teacher-approved feedback comes first. The feedback you see when you answer a question has been written, or reviewed and approved, by teachers. It is prepared and checked in advance, not generated on the spot, so every student who chooses the same answer sees the same feedback.
  2. ChemChat comes second. ChemChat, our AI tutor, answers any follow-up questions you have, in the context of that question and its teacher-approved feedback.
  3. Explained another way. Ask ChemChat to explain the feedback again As a student (simpler, everyday language) or As a second opinion (a short, structured mini-lesson).

AI is usually accurate, but ChemChat's additional explanations may contain occasional errors. If an explanation doesn't match the teacher-approved feedback, go with the feedback, or ask your teacher. Read how we keep ChemChat safe on our Safeguarding page.

For students

Preparing for your exam starts from the first lesson of your course, not the week before it.

For teachers

  • Learning checks. When your class finishes a topic, search for questions on it and bundle them into an assessment. Share its link with your students, or download it as a question paper and mark scheme.
  • Starter activities. Set a five-question assessment at the start of a lesson while you take the register, then share the link so students can follow up after class.
